Strain of Origin III
Things have been a little quiet round these parts of late, but never fear, we are slowly but surely working on new material which we hope will surface sometime soon. In the meantime here's a couple of recent Underlapper related things.
We were once again lucky enough to be involved in Feral Media's annual Strain of Origin compilation series, which is now in its third year. There are so many great artists included on this instalment and the remixes are some of the best to date.
We had the pleasure of remixing Melbourne duo Children of the Wave and in-turn our track Stockholm got the remix treatment from Aussie ex-pat Inch-time.
You can listen to both remixes via the player below and you can download the full compilation for free at the Feral Media bandcamp page here.
And lastly, we recently posted an improvised recording from the Underlapper vaults on our soundcloud page.
The piece was recorded sometime in 2003 by a very early incarnation of the band. Although very rough, the main parts eventually became the track Painting Red Things Grey which featured in our early live shows. Have a listen and see where it all began.
Until next time when we will hopefully have some new music to share.....

To celebrate their 10 year anniversary Feral Media are releasing a bumper compilation featuring a killer line-up of artists who have been associated with the label over the years.
Artists included on the release are AFXJIM, Alpen, Anonymeye, Mark Barrage, Because of Ghosts, Broken Chip, Comatone, Faux Pas, Gentleforce, Haunts, ii, Pimmon, Raven, School of Two, Scissor Lock, Seaworthy, Brad Stafford (The Longest Day), Thomas William, 0point1 and of course us!
We have submitted a brand new track for the compilation entitled 'Stockholm' and we are really happy with the results.
The compilation will be released digitally and as a limited edition Playbutton, which is an MP3 player that doubles as a wearable badge. The artwork for the release was created by the super talented SOPP Collective who have been responsible for the artwork on many of the Feral releases, including the cover for our album Red Spring.
To assist with the release Feral have launched a Pozible crowd-funding campaign (basically pre-ordering) which we urge you all to support. There are some great rewards on offer in addition to the compilation itself so head on over and see what it's all about.

To whet your appetite you can watch the campaign video below which features snippets of a few tracks from the compilation and you can also hear the first full preview from the album here.

Choking Ibis single
We have just released the Choking Ibis single which is the third and final single from our album Softly Harboured.
In addition to a radio edit of the title track, the single also features some stunning remixes from friends and label mates Option Command, Alpen and Comatone.
The remixes are stylistically diverse and push the track into new musical realms.
Option Command adds his trademark production to create an eerie beat-driven post-rock hybrid, whilst Alpen adds military style percussion and synth bass, bringing out a funkier side certainly not present in the original. To cap it off IDM maestro Comatone takes what is already an epic track and pushes it up a notch, beginning as a haunting post-classical ballad and ending as an IDM glitch freak-out.
If that wasn't enough, the lovely Tessa C. Stevens of Sydney-based music website Pyramid Scheme has directed a film clip for the Option Command remix which you can view on Vimeo here
We are extremely thankful to all the artists involved and are absolutely stoked with the results.
The single marks the end of a chapter for Underlapper as we begin work on new material which will hopefully surface sometime next year. But for now you can listen to the single below or download it for free from the Feral Media bandcamp page here

Underlapper remix Telafonica

Last year the wonderful Sydney outfit Telafonica began the arduous task of having each track from their amazing album Sleeping With The Fisherman remixed by various artists and then subsequently releasing each tracks remixes as a separate EP on a monthly basis.
The remix EPs have been as varied as the artists involved and the results are nothing short of breathtaking.
We were kindly asked to take part in the project and chose the skewed pop number To Me to remix.
You can listen/download our contribution below or head over to the Telafonica bandcamp site where you can check out all of the remix EPs so far.
In particular our good friend Peter Hollo aka Raven's all Cello reworking of the track There's Something About Your Face.

Postfolkrocktronica Picnic @ Cockatoo Island

We are super excited to be playing a very special event amongst the amazing surrounds of Sydney's Cockatoo Island in November. Curated by FBi Radio's Utility Fog, the aptly titled 'Postfolkrocktronica Picnic' will play host to Pimmon, Option Command, Thomas William (aka Cleptoclectics), AFXJIM, Ollie Brown of Icarus playing a solo set and also as a duo with Raven and last but not least Underlapper.
Due to prior engagements we will be playing without a rhythm section, therefore we have decided to play a special one-off electronic set attempting tracks that we've never played live before.
